Francophonie and the French language in the world. How important is it? What prospects?

In 1997, Professor David Graddol’s report, The future of English, published by the British Council, paved the way for various studies on the weight of languages in the world in the present and the future. The methodology was only applied to English and the French-speaking world in particular was totally ignored. What would it be today? This article attempts to answer this question.
